You can use Zapier to connect Hiver with your team's Slack Channel so that you can send personalized notifications in Slack for events such as email assignments in shared mailbox.
For enabling this feature, you can follow the instructions here.
Here's how you set-up this awesomeness:
Notification for New Email
Using Hiver in tandem with Zapier, you can now send out notifications on your Slack Channel whenever a new email arrives. After successfully authenticating Hiver on Zapier:
- Login to your Zapier account.
- Click on Make a Zap button to proceed.
- Select Hiver from the list of Apps.
- After selecting, it will ask for the trigger that you want to setup.
- Select ‘New Email in Shared Mailbox’ from the list.

- Click “Save+Continue” button.
- Choose the authenticated Hiver account to proceed.
- Select the shared mailbox for which you need the Zap to be setup.

- Click on “Skip Test & Continue” to proceed. It will show the test skipped page.
- Click on “Continue” to proceed.
- Select Slack from the list of Action Apps.
- Select “Send Channel Message” and click “Save+Continue” button.

- It will ask to select an authenticated account for Slack. If you already have an account connected, select it or else connect a new one and click on the “Save+Continue” button.
- Select the channel from the Channel drop down to get the list of all the channels in your Slack account.

- Set up the message that you want to send.
- Setup all the optional fields required and then click “Continue”.
- Click on “Create & Continue” to setup the zap.
- Once the setup is complete, enter a name for your zap, click on “ON” and the zap should start working.
Personalized Notification for Task Delegation
Using the Hiver+Zapier+Slack integration, you can send a personalized notification in Slack for all the email assignments in the Hiver Shared Mailboxes. After successful authentication, follow the below steps:
- Login to your Zapier account
- Click on Make a Zap button to proceed.
- Select Hiver from the list of Apps.
- After selecting, it will ask for the trigger that you want to setup.
- Select ‘New Email Assignment’ from the list.

- Click “Save+Continue” button.
- Choose the authenticated Hiver account to proceed.
- Select the shared mailbox for which you need the Zap to be setup.

- Click on “Skip Test & Continue” to proceed. It will show the test skipped page.
- Click on “Continue” to proceed.
- Next up will be selecting Slack from the list of Action Apps.
- Go to the search section in the slack app and select “Find User by Email”.

- Click “Save+Continue” button.
- It will ask to select an authenticated account for Slack. If you already have an account connected, select that, else, connect a new one and click “Save+Continue” button.
- In the Email input box, click on the right button to see the data from Hiver. Choose the Email ID from the drop down to use Hiver user in this action.

- Click “Continue”, then “Search & Continue”.
- After the success note is seen, click “Continue” to proceed.
- Add another action by clicking on the “Plus” icon.
- After adding the new step, again select the Slack app and select the “Send Direct Message” option from the list.
- Select the authenticated account and click “Continue” to proceed.
- In the “To Username” field, click on the right drop down button to see the result of the first 2 steps.
- Select the second (Slack) call to see its data.
- Select the Username field to proceed.

- Select the options that you need to send in the message as shown below. You can also enter optional fields to format the message.

- Click “Continue”, “Skip Test & Continue” and then “Continue” to proceed.
- Add a name to your zap. Click on “ON” button to turn your zap on. Once the process is completed, click on “See it on Dashboard” to finish the step.
After this is set up, all the emails assigned in Hiver would send a Slack Update when the respective users the subject of the email assigned in the message body.
Personalized Notification for tags/@mentions
- Login to your Zapier Account.
- Select Hiver from the list of Apps. After selecting, it will ask for the trigger that you want to setup.
- Select “New User Mention in Shared Notes” from the list.

- Click “Save+Continue” button.
- Choose the authenticated account to proceed.
- Click on “Skip Test & Continue” to proceed. It will show the test skipped page.
- Click on “Continue” to proceed.
- It will proceed to next step.
- Select Slack from the list of Action Apps available.
- Go to the search section in the slack app and select “Find User by Email” and click “Save+Continue” button.
- It will ask to select an authenticated account for Slack. If you already have an account connected, select that, else, connect a new one and click “Save+Continue” button.
- In the Email input box, click on the right button to see the data from Hiver.
- Select the email address from the drop down to use Hiver user in this action.

- Click “Continue”, then “Search & Continue”.
- After the success note is seen, click “Continue” button to proceed.
- Add another action by clicking on the “Plus” icon under the existing setup.
- After adding the new step, again select the Slack app and select the “Send Direct Message” option from the list.
- Select the authenticated account and click “Continue” to proceed.
- In the “To Username” field, click on the right drop down button to see the result of the first 2 steps.
- Select the second (Slack) call to see its data.
- Select the Username field to proceed.

- Select the options that you need to send in the message as shown below.
- You can also enter optional fields to format the message.
- Click “Continue”, “Skip Test & Continue” and then “Continue” to proceed.
- Add a name to your zap, click on “ON” button to turn your zap on.
- Once the process is completed, a screen like below should come.
- Click on “See it on Dashboard” to finish the step.

After this is set up, all the @mentions in Hiver should send the respective users the note on Slack.
